I would prefer the term "hibernation" to Dead.... but Yippee! I am very glad to be part of this tourney that brings tournament golf back to Fairfield U.

Much has Changed!! We again had a lot of work on campus this past summer, lots of new sidewalks and paths put in.

Here is a synopsis of important information.

1. There are 18 holes in and playable.
2. All 18 have tee signs and the correct numbers on the pins. (ok this was finished yesterday...) (Thanks to Tema, my wife for helping me make the new signs)
3. 6/18 are now concrete path/sidewalk tees. I will work on cleaning up and flattening a few tees before tourney time.
4. The FLOW of PLAY has been changed... many suggested and I listened. After playing hole 4 (the Library hole) you proceed directly to the Flagpole hole, new number 5. 6 is the Zen hole, 7 is the deep woods hole, 8 is the new Bellarmine cliff hole, 9 is Bellarmine hole (pin up by the building) and 10 is Long Island Sound. 11 is old hole 5, the short downhill hole to the big oak tree. 12-18 are as before.
5. The Current layout WILL be used for the tournament. I want to establish a legitimate PDGA course rating for the course as it is now configured. Come and Play!! Flagpole and Long Island sound are a little shorter than earlier tournaments but I'm curious to see how they will play as configured.

Norwalk (on Saturday) / Fairfield/Bridgeport (on Sunday) over two days represents an excellent opportunity to display your disc chucking skills on three very different courses. ENJOY!

SEE THE New Map in the next post!

Looks like aLOT of walking between holes. What's with 1 and 2 being side-by-side? Then having to walk to the middle of the campus for 3? Hope it's just a map-illusion.

edit:  can't wait...

The walks are not as far as they look. The scenery is very nice as you are walking around the campus, just remember they are college students. The course winds around the campus in a good way, not is a tight squeezed in HCC kind of way.

Might be feeling a road trip coming on ??????

the walks are a little long but the holes are worth it. some of the most unusual, beautiful, well-manicured disc golf holes in the northeast. everyone should try to play this one!

Sounds like a "see-it-for-yourself" kinda place. I don't see anything on the calender for the 7th... yet.

We've already got 12 registered. 60 spots left...I suspect this will fill, so sign up now.
I purposely didn't include sponsorship in the registration link because I know how people hate having to pay fees for that, so PLEASE pm me for info or PayPal gift me the sponsorship to aygood at hotmail dot com.

And THANKS to Jack Bradley for being an Event Sponsor.

Just a quick note to encourage people to participate in these two days of great Disc Golf!! I have played Cranbury from the days when it was an object course (yes, that long... I'm old!). It has matured into a great challenging hills and woods course with a couple big booming open holes. (Well, relatively open...) Many, Many people put hours into making great tees and fairway work on this course. Adam Goodman and friends worked tirelessly over the last couple of years to make 90 acres (Bridgeport) happen and did a great job of designing and putting in a challenging woods course that provides a bunch of really fun, fair, and challenging holes and a few that are just, well crazy! (in a good way).

Fairfield U has gone through so many revisions since I first put it in some 12 years ago that it makes my head spin. The longer walks are driven by my desire to have as many really fun challenging holes as possible... as versus just making for a quick tee to hole walk. There are also a few Legacy holes which I simply have not been willing to give up. (The Oak hole, LIS hole, Zen hole) Some of the tees are, well, crappy. But the course is gorgeous, the views spectacular, and the challenge is there... to shoot well under par... or just survive if the wind happens to come up... I have only had to blow the horn once because there was lighting and a possible tornado... :) (remember?)

Zen has yet to be aced in a tournament... despite being only about 180 feet (if that)
LIS is always a very tough 3, even from the shorter tee.

Hope to see you there!

Kraig

IN!!!

Adam - already sponsored Cranbury, but if the funds are available, count me in for a hole/event sponsorship for this one as well.

You know my motto: if you can't give the course your time, the least you can do is give it some cash

Going to put up the following bounty for the Cranbury Classic and the Fairfield County Open:

I have several misprint champion USDGC rocs from 2008 (san marino mold) that are taking up space in my basement.
You must play both events.
I will give one each to the Pro player (any division) and Amateur player (any division) who put up the lowest total (four round) score over the weekend for ALL pro divisions and ALL amateur divisions.

I will also be running Cranbury tags each day - hopefully to be assisted by Mr. Brad "Old Man has the Box" French each day ...

So far we have 0 hole sponsors. Come on people!
This is going to be great and when is the last time you've played a tournament at Fairfield University?

If you are thinking about attending this tournament, I suggest you sign up very soon. Based on the number of people who verbally committed at Panthorn today I would say we will fill just like the Cranbury Classic did. I will post pre-reg in a few days.

Adam I also have some left over GRWO discs that I want to give you. You can use them as you see fit for either, CTP or prizes. I'll give them to you at the Classic.
